My mom would have been 60 this month. I feel like an a-hole because I can't remember her actual birthday. I know it's in the 20's somewhere, so it could be today. But it probably isn't. At any rate, I've been a little glum lately and this could be why. So, a happy (belated? early?) birthday to my mom.

I spent much of this weekend doing research for my journal article and my LRWA (writing class) project. The topic of my journal article is the government's suppression of the first amendment rights of Muslims in airports. In researching this topic, I've discovered that the majority of America is just fine with racially profiling Muslims/Arabs at airports. How barfy. My writing class project is about a guy who has loads of child porn on his laptop, so all my research has been about - of course - child porn. If the government's watching my Westlaw account, this weekend got me on all kinds of surveillance lists.

Even with all my studiousness, I managed to cram in some fun this weekend. Yesterday I watched most of Shaun of the Dead and beat Adam's butt at both Mall Madness and Monopoly. And now I'm watching Family Guy.

Next weekend: the beach!
